Make an Appointment

Appointments System

  • You may request the doctor of your choice subject to availability. This may not always be possible, our trained reception team will advise what appointments are available and appropriate.
  • Please make one appointment per person, additional appointments will be needed for family members.
  • Please make one appointment per problem, due to time restrictions clinicians are not able to deal with multiple issues.
  • Your request for a same day consultation may be triaged by a clinician, who will assess your need and advise the best course of action. If your need is urgent you will be signposted to either an appointment at the surgery or the Urgent Treatment Centre.
  • Once the surgery has reached capacity (all appointments have been booked) you will be directed to the Urgent Treatment Centre at A&E Scunthorpe General Hospital. This is a GP led service different to A&E. If you require an urgent face to face appointment on the same day and the surgery no longer has appointments available you will be advised to attend the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

Booking an Appointment

  • For Cambridge Avenue Medical Centre, please call: 01724 842415 during surgery hours.
  • For Messingham Family Health Centre, please call: 01724 763034 during surgery hours.

Telephone consultations are also available to book with doctors and nurses at both surgeries.

Please note:

  • We have a team of receptionists, secretaries and administration staff who support the doctors and nurses in an administrative role: booking all appointments, house calls, arranging urgent transport (this does not include hospital outpatient appointment transport) and dealing with repeat prescriptions, amongst other tasks.
  • They have a very difficult job serving at the interface between doctors and patients and may have to ask what appear to be unnecessary questions of the patient, in order to ascertain the urgency of the problem.
